Avid readers of life enhancement books often come to the realization that what they are reading is the same thing they have read many times before, only in a different package. These books are all helpful and even if it is just re-packaged information you’ve read before, repetition is always helpful, but you can really get the urge to read something genuine and new. Look no further than Darren Hardy’s THE COMPOUND EFFECT. Are there going to be things you’ve read before? Probably, but there is also a ton of original content and actionable ideas that will really help you develop a new path for life.
Of course the basic premise of the book is built upon the compound effect of a penny doubled each day for a month. I’m sure most readers know well the dramatic results of this simple exercise. Hardy illustrates how to apply this same compounding principle to virtually any aspect of life. The book is filled with pearls of wisdom such as finding your motivation. Hardy uses the example of walking a plank 10” wide and 30’ long. Sitting on the ground, walking the plank is no problem, but when suspended between two 100’ buildings we wouldn’t do it; unless, as Hardy suggests, our child were on top of the other building and it were on fire, then we would cross the plank without hesitation.
Course corrections, goal setting, developing good habits and eliminating bad ones, building momentum, why-power, personal associations; it’s all here and all laid out in easy to apply methods that cannot help but have a positive impact on your life – IF YOU APPLY THEM.
Darren Hardy has a real winner here. As the editor of Success Magazine – an indispensable resource in and of itself – Hardy has had the benefit of learning first hand from some of the most powerful and influential leaders of our time and he has compiled his knowledge into this volume that will surely take its place as a staple on most ‘must read’ lists. I give this book my highest recommendation.
